I was wondering if any body else has had the good fortune to see the three black swans that have graced our area with their awesome presence?

Really hard to get a good picture of these beautiful birds. Don't know how long they will stick around as the are definitely not native to the area.

They stay alot right at the end of my street. I do not know where they come from. Why is there only 3? They are very graceful birds. They were here last year. They showed up about 2-3 weeks ago. Maybe someone can shed some light on this story.

I figured you knew they were there Stan ,the lady that writes the birding column in the paper thinks that they might be escapees from one of the local country clubs. As for why there's only three your guess is as good as mine. Just thought i would share something a little out of the norm.

They are native to Australia. Probably came off of a pond somewhere. They have been there almost a week. They were not there this morning when I drove by.
Those things cost about $1500 a piece

Funny thing the first time I saw them I had to do a double take. They looked like some sort of serpent coming up out of the water with those long necks and being black. Very Happy

Posting what the black swans are "worth" will probably seriously shorten the time they are free for everyone to see. Maybe you could consider deleting that information for the sake of the swans?

Just think of the stock you could make with that neck! Laughing

I hope everyone leaves them in peace. There are a lot of trumpeter swans around where my folks used to live in Mt. Vernon, WA. They are absolutely gorgeous especially in flight.

You've got to be kidding me? Guess I shouldn't tell you that I tried to shoot them the first day I saw them. Couldn't get within range unfortunately.

I wanted one for the wall and one for the pot. The third one.....well I haven't figured out what I'd do with him. Maybe a live capture, Hatari style. Would you be interested in purchasing it from me? I'll go $1,000 just for you Smile

Maybe Flour Bluff will become known, as the home of the black swan, rather than the black heart! Question
