Stayed North of the JFK do to weather conditions.
Tides are still on the high side and water has a brown tint to it.
Saw tons of drum with a few slot reds mixed in with them. Caught a few of each on 3" white gulp.

Got caught in the down pour Sunday morning. I saw lots of boats scrabbling for cover running a ground and almost colliding. Visibility was about 20ft for awhile, a little scary.

And to add to the fun I broke the limit of 1000 hardheads in my fishing career, on my 1001 hardhead it finally happened, I got a fin in the fat part of my hand between my thumb and finger. I had to cut the fin off the fish then rip it out of my hand with pliers.....The first time I pulled it did not come out.....made me a little dizzy...my hand look like I hit it with a bat later that night but it looks good now.

I gpt hit with a cat around spring time. Caught me right in between the thumb and pointer finger. Im guessin since id been drinkin the effect was multiplied cause it knocked me on my a**. Laughing

it went a good ways in. Probably about half an inch or so but the fish flopped out of my hand so he ripped it out. Definitely not fun.

Maybe I missed something but what is the difference if you pulled the fish off of your hand compared to clipping the fin off and then pulling it off with pliers?

JoeJoe, safety people always give the speech that you can do something dangerous a thousand times without getting hurt, so it must have been a thousand and one.

Fins, if you get a fin 3/4" in your hand it helps to get control of the wiggling fish and clip the fin and free the fish from you to keep it from causing more damage. This then gives you some time to think of your plan to yank the fin out. A catfish fin is smooth on the edge away from its body and serrated on the inside edge closest to its body. So yak with a little pressure to the non serrated side to minimize the zip cut it gives you coming out.
