| My 10 year old chocolate got hit yesterday dove hunting. Her dad died when he was 13 of a bite. Give her a prayer or two. With the vaccine shots she has been given in the past, it looks good now. |

The older dogs have a hard time dealing with bites. Lost one that was 11. 2 other dogs we had that were much younger got bit at other times and were ok after 3-4 days. They were all bit in the face and looked like crap for a while. Good luck with yours man. _________________ Cudakilla.com

I had a Golden retrevier that got bit on the nose by a rattler. It's a good story. I cut its nose sucked the poison out as best as I could. Called the vet. Made a tub of ice water and he got in that tub like he knew what it was for and laid there. I gave the dog some benadryl. When the vet got to the house he asked what I had done and I told him. He said have you ever thought about being a vet? He gave the dog a couple of lasex shots for swelling and said there is nothing else I can do, you have done the best that anyone could do . He did say I probably gave him to much benadryl but he would sleep it off. The dog was fine and lived a good life. He was my buddy Flash. I will remember him always. Because he knocked my son Zach out of the way of the snake and took the bite. True story...ask anyone in my family. I'm sure your bud will be fine. Keep us posted. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

| Every dog I had that was bitten in the head survived. From there back, 50/50. Hope it turns out well. |

Thanks for the support. She is doing good today and looks promising. The problem was that she got hit in the leg about halfway up. Not the best place.
She is a tough little girl(53 lbs). Her dad was 13(sounds too old to hunt but their bloodline is remarkable on longevity)when he got hit while we were quail hunting and his kidneys couldn't handle it. All of our dogs get snake training every year, but these things can and do still happen. |

| Took my buddy, Max (black lab RIP, buddy) to Chaparral WMA many moons ago and was worried about rattlers the whole time, even though he had been a working dog (quail and dove) on a ranch that my cousin worked on south of Uvalde. He had snake-proof training, but it had been a few years. Fortunately, the only issue was him jumping his old supple bum into and out of the bed of the truck. Our vet advised the ice bath treatment and haul arse to the nearest vet, as the vaccine wasn't available and no nearby snake proof training nearby due to a big dog show up north. Glad to hear your Chocolate is doing OK, hope she recovers just fine. |
