Hey, Y'all!

I've been traveling a good bit these past few days. School starts back up tomorrow so I made the best of the last few days. My best friends both went on their way to PT school in separate cities so we had what could be the last trip with all 3 of us.

We hit my night spot looking for drum and I immediately pull in all the fish I can handle.

The storms showed up pretty quickly so we had to call it a day just a few short of all our limits.

I hit the water again in the morning and the drum bite was CRAZY! I ran off 32 drum in about 20 minutes. They would slamm it within 5 seconds of hitting the water and if I let is sit there for a little longer I would pull in 2 on one leader.

I made the trip up to Lake Buchanan to enjoy a few days with my gal before school started back up for her. The lake was as awesome as I remember. I could live out there everyday if I had that option.

This trip produced a lot of species for me. I caught one of everything except a buffalo and gar.
-perch
-gaspergoo
-blue cat
-channel cat
-striper
-carp
-hybrid
-Largemouth
-white bass
-crappie

and a few more. I also had a strange encounter with turtles. They kept coming up and eating all of my minnows. I caught about 7 or 8 of the pesky bastages and ended up with my redear/softshell/snapper slam.

This morning I got back into the laguna. Hit the same area that gave up a crazy morning bite for drum. I anchored up and started casting out my 3 bottom fishing rods. By the time I set the 3rd rod in the holder the first 2 were bowed up with fish. Lines in at 6:45 and had my limit by 6:50. Had 22 drum by 7:30 with the smallest going 16 inches. Home and eating a taco by 9:30.

The drum bite has been phenomenal. I'm finding thousands stacked up shallow. 6:45 to about 8AM is the main bite. Around 7:15 they move from inches of water into about a foot then back into inches of water right on shorelines. By the time they move up on the shoreline the second time the bite slows down a TON!
Fishbites on the bottom gets the job done.

I hope to hit it a few more times before school really picks up here. Maybe if the winds let me hahaha.

Till next time
Life is good!

That is a ton of drum, good catch!!! I plan on hitting it tomorrow morning while everyone is at work and back at school. I doubt I'll have a limit of anything in 5 min but I sure will have fun trying. Thanks for the report.

Awesome report! Man I need some saltwater. Just haven't been able to get down there. Hopefully now that the kids are back in school I can take a vacation day to get down there during the week. Keep them reports coming!
