It looks like the deal is going to close. $32mm for almost 18K acres along the coast.

That will be a "State Park" that no one will be allowed to use for recreation. Endangered species and habitats are a good reason to keep people out.

your right, but I bet you won't in this one. Take a look at the groups that TWP crawled in bed with. TPW sold its soul on this deal. Unbelievable who these govt lackies will suck up to in order to get a few bucks. I guarantee that those private treehugger groups are the controllers of what will happen to that property - not TPW.

I made a tour of the ranch a few years ago with some clients who were interested in developing the frontage along Matagorda Bay. There are over 12,000 acres of flood plain and wetlands. The buyers were going to sell the 12,000 to a conservation group, and keep the rest for hunting and future development. I had some huge dollar signs in my eyes for a while, but there were too many moving parts to the deal.....

You may be right we will find out in the near future. The fact that it is going to be a Texas State Park and managed as such gives some hope. I will stand by what I said earlier, we all will have more access to it now than we did before which was 0%.

I am just talking about the direction that State parks seem to be headed in our area. Incase you didn't already know TPWD will soon be placing bollards and cable at Mustang Island State Park that will block off vehicular access to 3 miles of Laguna Madre/Corpus Christi Bay Shoreline. They are also looking for money to place water wells and flood a lot of the area back there. Blocking it off and flooding it seem like great ways to keep people out if you ask me.
