HAd a great day fishing on Saturday 3/4. Caught 17 keeper trout to 22". Fishing was very slow until 10:30. Caught 10 keepers in less than an hour and then picked up one or two here and there on each subsequent drift. All fish were caught on shrimp under a popping cork on luguna shores dr looking at the Circle K from the water. What a great day!!! I will post pics as soon a I figure out how!!!

Why give up the honey hole... Dont fishermen know that tommorrow it will be elbow room only Seeing that you gave up the only landmark to your honey hole and other people's honey holes who worked hard finding it.

I disagree. I think fishing reports are vague from time to time. Its nice when a fellow angler gives a specific locale to help out. Most fisherman do not get to spend many days on the water and learning honey holes helps them to have more productive days. there are very few "secret holes" remaining. I recall hiring a guide to show me honey holes and we ended up fishing all the spots that were well known to myself and everyone else for the most part. I do agree that fisherman should show etiquette and give others fishing room, but I think we all do a good job for the most part. What gets me is recieving the famous touchdown signal from a boater drifting in running lanes. Where do you expect boats to run? especially those that do not run shallow. Boat traffic is picking up and let us all be safe and respect others. There are plenty of honey holes to be fished out there. By the way thanks for the report and that is a good spot both on the Laguna Shores Rd. side and the boat hole side of the JFK.

buy a fishing hotspot map if you need help in finding honey holes. They are identified on there..

I would have to say the reason i love this board so much is because people are so willing to share their knowledge with others who will most likely benefit from it, as far as i know this location wasnt exactly some secret spot or anything like that as there are many people who already fish this area, Flatstalker thank you for the report and it is nice to know that that spot is starting to pick up as i fished there a couple days in february with little to no luck. and as for fishing maps i dont find them to be all that accurate example the upper laguna madre map claims the pita island area isnt much good for any type of fish year round. Another member on this site was kind enough to recommend this area to me and as a result i probably caught more keeper speckled trout in january/february 2006 than i had in all of 2005, Thanks Rabbit!!! also cckayaker was kind enough to show me around the kates hole areaand in doing so turned me onto a spot that seems like it holds quite a few nice redfish and we all saw the 28 in trout he pulled outta there, in my opinion its people like them who make this board so unique.

All the maps in the world won't help you truly find honey holes, only time on the water and experimenting in different areas will. Certain smaller areas where stealth is required may be best to keep secret, but telling someone you caught fish in the Boathole is like telling them you live in Corpus Christi, does not exactly narrow it down! We should share our spots with others, espcially those areas where there is ample room and open water for drift fishing. The aforementioned area facing Circle K has plenty of water to drift, I've been there with 6 or 7 boats drifting and everyone catching fish. The best honey holes are the ones that have never graced a map!

I agree with Troutman. You can tell someone where you caught the fish, but that doesn't mean they will succeed in the same area. There are very few secret spots left in the CC area and way too many boats on the bay during the summer months. I remember trips to Land Cut in the 70's and we would not see another boat for hours, but I do catch more quality fish today (maybe experience took over).
The biggest draw for myself to fish Baffin is the small crowds (thank God for the rocks!), but with the new electronics on the market, its only a matter of time and this area will look like Aransas in July on a Saturday.
I've had good friends that got mad for weeks because I shared a good spot with a newbie. Some people take this very serious and I can understand why. The main gripe is "they should have to work to find the spots like we did". I guarentee that everyone has had help in finding fishing destinations at some point in their lives, even most guides.

Fish are on the move so much that from day to day, even hour to hour, the fishing changes. A cloud blocks the sun, and all the sudden the bite stops, or the wind lays down and the fish start up.

The point is you never really know, and giving up a location is not likely to change things much. Yep, there may be 10 people there the next day, but the fish probably won't be.

Don't forget, many anglers use a little deception, and give false locations, leading others astray so they can return time and time again. Don't know how many pics I have seen posted where the pictures say Big Shell, Little Sheel or the High Bank and the report says they are at the 6 mile marker! Laughing

What was there today wont be there tomorrow though. Nice to know general area on where there moving at though. North of JFK, emmords hole, nighthawk ect breaks it down to a window without giving exact location is all I need. Use your talents.

I think we all need a little extra help finding fish every now and then. I haven't caught that many keeper trout in a day in a long time and I think other fisherman should have a chance at it too!! I will tell you , earlier that day we were drifting in Emmords Hole when a boat pulled up within 20 yards of me and called me a mother****** for fishing "their " spot. I never replied to them but could not understand why they got so upset, there were boats all over the place!! I am out to have a good time and relax. What ever happened to common courtesy and common sense?? it seems to not matter anymore.

The same thing has happened to me both wading and drifting. I was wading and a guide pulled up with customers and told me I was in thier spot and to leave. I left that particular time and gave no response. I felt that the guy had already ruined my day before the sun was even up, why make it worse and cause a scene in front of his paying customers. For the most part most are courteous on the water. There is always a small percentage of those who can ruin your day on the water by having no respect or manners. The same thing happens on the golf course or anywhere in public as a matter of fact. I myself have pulled up to the shoreline at first light and run right up on waders who were fishing. I felt bad and embarassed and needless to say they were upset and cussing me. What can you do? Fishing is fun, lets keep it that way.

Sounds like a freaking guide to me.... I respect them, but don't like em.. Just my opinion...

I respect most of the area guides. What they do every day is not easy. It sounds like a dream job. I passed the captains course and have a State liscence to guide as well. If you look in the phone book there are many area fishing guides and I would say the majority are not even listed. The money is good for some but not all. Many are retired and some have money and do it for kicks. If you have to feed a family you had better work hard, be good and get your name out to survive the business. I can say I would much rather fish for fun and use my certification to fall back on. Competition is tight and egos abound.
