Thanks for prodding me, Fishlady. With classes starting back up, family, offshore kayaking and life in general being pretty busy lately I have not reported in for a few days. Mahi girl is about nine inches long now and has developed that cool blue coloration on her head to go with the row of dots on her back. I have photos but video is getting tough to capture in my tank. She moves so fast and eats her fish so quickly it's over before it really starts...
Here's the tank this morning. The sargassum has to be replaced every two or three days, and yesterday there was none to be found at Packery. What I did find was more little silver mullet. Last week she ate almost a hundred in less than three days, so maybe these will give me a day off from catching bait.

100 mullet in 3 days on a 9" mahi. Puts a lot into perspective on how fragile our ecosystem is. The importance of mullet just sky rocketed in my book! _________________ Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. |

| ...and I thought my teenagers ate a lot! My biologist friend said every Mahi he has seen in a tank eventually starved because the owners couldn't feed them enough. I'm feeling the strain, but I can do it until the TSA calls me back... I think. |

| I just got word that the TSA will have quarantine space available later this week to take over with Mahi girl's care. Looks like she's going to the big house! |

She won't even look at shrimp anymore. After she got several into her mouth she kept getting the horn stuck in her throat and had to really work to get them spit out. She acts like they aren't food now.
...silver mullet, on the other hand is candy. |

Thank you, Prof. Salt, for the update! I needed a Mahi Girl fix. Guess I'll have to go to the aquarium to see her again. _________________ FishLady

| I will ask the TSA to send me a photo every couple of days so I can keep track. If they are able to do that for me I will pass them along here as I get them. |

| Ahhhh....they're so cute when they're little. They grow up so fast! In no time you'll be an "empty aquariumer". |

Interesting. So this mahi has a memory. I wonder what else we can learn from it. |
