big mats of weed rolling in. tide was high, surf was 3 footers. Water was chocolate milk, with a nice green color change 1/4 mile out that refused to come in.
Fishing was possible right up against the rocks, but barely so. We stuck it out, as we had guests in from out of town that were all about fishing. Sheepshead are still around, no decent size on them. Saw a nice red come up. Whiting were certainly around. Hardheads too. Live shrimp getting most of the bites.
Cool catch of the day was a 24" Atlantic Guitarfish that was caught by our guest Mike from Virginia. When it came up I thought it was a nice flounder, then I thought stingray, then I realized what it was. I'll try to get the picture of it uploaded later this evening. _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |

Ditto!!
That's a fish you don't run across every day. AND it was snagged by the out-of-town guest!?! Tell Mike to make a bee-line for the closest Circle K and buy himself a lottery ticket! |

Man you guys are lucky, every time a guest comes and I want to get him/her on fish we always get skunked! Even if I had been on a roll the days before. Oh well, but thanks for the report! |

We hit it again today. Still lots of weed but the water was greener. Two beautiful sheepshead, some small whiting, skipjack, piggies, and 2 reds just under the slot. We saw a few keeper reds come up. All fishing shrimp in the rocks. The surf got to big that keep your bait in one spot became tough. Not a bad day considering the conditions. The northern coming through should make it REALLY messy out there. _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |

Thanks for the pics. Your Buddy hit quite the trifecta.
Got himself an Atlantic Guitarfish, with what looks to be a Lone Star Tall Boy, in a PINK koozie!
Welcome to Texas! |
