Hey becky you still a little off, it it's not the Commission pushing these changes, it's the outside influence of the special interest groups.

Hey you know what's really fun is that the Public Hearing for Corpus Christi was set on March 20th at 7pm......which is right in the middle of the annual CCA-Corpus Christi Banquet....no executive boardmembers, boardmembers, or anyone attending the Banquet will be on hand or available to make public comments....
maybe it's just coincidence....
becky
here's the schedule of the meetings...

You still have time to voice your opinion on the issue at the upcoming meetings (Rockport on the 13th, Port Isabel on the 19th, and CC on the 20th), and if you can't make any of those, there are links to make your voice heard via email/internet.
It is by no means a done deal, either way ("keep 5" or "stay at 10' for trout, or 2 more weeks of lower bag limits of flounder in Dec).
Just know that the Public Hearing are a place where you can get your opinion on the official record, but it's not an open forum for debate at this time. Once the hearings are over, the Commission will receive reports from around the State and render judgement on the proposed rule changes. Could they ultimately go against public will, sure. But if you don't let it be known what your opinion is (be it for or against), they have that much less information to guide their decisions. |
see my above comment regarding the Public Hearing....

Being a conspiracy theorist I think that means they have agreed to pass it no matter what happens at public meetings. They got CCA's back and this makes it look like they really didn't have any influence.
I have to say in fairness to CCA some of the Houston guys are scratching their heads at the lack of science and the move to do it anyway. What puzzles me is this is an important issue not just for this specific proposal but in a broader sense of how business gets done by TPWD so I am amazed CCA still has no official public stance.
If you divorce yourself from whether it is the right move or not debate you still have to think an organization dedicated to conservation would scream at the top of their lungs to do it if it was really needed. In my day job silence when a reasonable person should respond can be considered an admission. _________________ Wish I Were in Baffin |

I'm pretty sure CCA has had time to express it's collective opinion, and I'd also bet a crisp $1 bill that this last round of public hearings is nothing more than feel good BS,. |

It's all about politics and money guys. Why be a politician or vote for one like the little people when you can buy and own one.
Remember the old saying "Those who have the gold make the rules". It's just as true today as was 50 years ago. _________________ Now that food has replaced my sex life I can't even get into my own pants!!!!!!!!

| I guess on the bright side if they make the changes I'll be able to say "I caught my limit today" on a much more regular basis. I just caught three in 20 minutes form my dock over the light. Might not even need a boat anymore. |

Even if it means the "possession limit" also goes down to 5?
Read the proposed changes VERY carefully and then decide.
That's an awful lot of $$$ spend for the sometimes fisherman from San Antonio and points north to come down and only be able to keep 5 fish, no matter how long they are on the coast....
Something to cogitate over. |
Is the possession limit going to change to 5 also? The article in the Chronicle didn't address that issue.
|
I was lucky enough to receive a email this morning that confirms the recommendation from the TP & W to the commissioners will include the possession limits to be 5 fish.

And now for who is really behind this.
TPWD announces today a "second" meeting on the proposed changes for the Corpus area. It seems CCA wasn't in the loop for the selection of the first date (banquet night) so they have ordered their "boys" to have a second meeting they can attend...total BS
