What's the story with them. A lady feeds them. Are they all random strays or did the local cat farm decide it was open range? Looks like a disease out break in the making.

Great idea.... Maybe a live target shooting range....

The whole cat colony down there completely disgusts me and really is a breeding ground for disease. Most of those cats probably aren't vaccinated so any feline leukemia or respiratory infection would spread faster than a wildfire. People think they are helping these animals and really making things worse for them.

Y'all honestly think the city gives a damn about stray cats around the baitstands? I'm all for animal control, but if it came down to getting the city to do something about it, I would rather they crack down on stray dogs and the idiots who don't keep their dogs on a leash.

After seeing the news this week some dogs are better off not being on a leash. I think the statement should just involve the idiots who have dogs. Dogs are awesome animals and many end up having a bad life. Cats can be pretty cool too. You should meet my cat, Mr. Spock. I think he thinks he is a dog. Very Happy

I didn't think about that. A different perspective is always nice. They're certainly friendly enough to catch. It's all I could do to not run them over.....

I never had a problem with cats UNTIL I moved to corpus. Good lord there is a crazy amount of strays. A lady used to feed em on my old street and it just made me so mad cause there was dozens roaming the streets. I breed dogs and they would constantly go in my yard . Animal control told me that if they were not hurting anyone they wouldn't do anything

here are some helpful links for people that may be able to help curb the problem, as well as help trap, alter, vax and release.

i personally have rescued 2 from under the oso causeway. I got them when they were 5-6wks and was able to rehome them to a wonderful couple, where they now both rule the house Smile

Outdoor cats are the leading cause of death among both birds and mammals in the United States, according to a new study, killing 1.4 billion to 3.7 billion birds each year.

The mammalian toll is even higher, concluded researchers from the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, ranging from 6.9 billion to 20.7 billion annually.

That's a lot of birds!

Best way to deal with ferrel cats is SSS. Shoot, shovel, and silence.

You would think that a city that prides itself as the "birdiest" in the US would take this more seriously.
