Late report but here it is, drove to SPI for a charter trip (1-11-14 to 1-12-14 ) aboard the Salt Walker, The capatin was Micheal Walker. There was five people on this charter for 36 Hrs. to Perdido for yellowfin tuna and whatever else would bite. We left the dock around 5:30 and trolled on the way out. I made it to the rod and reel first when the drag started scraming. First fish of the trip would be a Blue Marlin, captain estimated it at 7ft around #150. My first Blue Marlin ever and what a fight.

We continued to the rig and saw what I was told was a HumpbackWhale.

We made it to the rig arond 8:00ish and things were slow at first. Captain Walker was working hard to find the tuna and then BAM I caught the first Yellowfin of the night, we would have douple hook ups several times. By 3:00ish in the morning we had our limit of 15 Yellowfin Tuna. There were several Blackfin tunas caught, to estimate I would guess 30 plus. We headed back and on the way the Captain spotted a pallet and we caught four Dorado ( Mahi-mahi ) and one Wahoo. Phil (not in pic) caught a White Marlin

Made it back to the dock by 6:30 and was glad to stand on land to be able to hold food and water down. The captain and his crew were excellence!! This was my first charter and I have to say I would recommend this Captain to everyone. All that went had a great time. Here are a few more pics.

my largest tuna of the night

That looks like a trip that would definitely test your arm strength. Anyone mind posting what a trip like that would cost? Maybe I can convince my wife to do something like that as an anniversary gift next year? Wink

How much was it ? Do you have to have 5 people to go or can you just book a spot ?

You can have less people but it cost more best to call (361-793-1598) for a price. But to answer your question my part was $600 the 6th person that was to go backed out but he paid his part.

Doesn't sound like sleeping was on the agenda for 36 hrs. When the fishing is that good I don't imagine anyone got sleepy until the boat docked. Enjoyed the report...Thanks
