Does anyone know of any outfitters offering doe and/or spike hunts in South Texas? Just looking to put something in the freezer. Thanks.

There are a few day hunts at the Aransas Pass Wildlife Refuge. They run $135 for 2 days of hunting. You can take 2 deer and unlimited hogs.

I thought you had to draw tags to hunt ANWR, reading this it appears we just pay the fee and we're in? 100 hunters per weekend for 20k acres is 200 acres/hunter so not too bad assuming accessibility to the whole 20k is somewhat reasonable. We don't have a lease this year so I'd love to do this for my boys, especially because the youth fees are reduced. If you have any experience with this I'd love to hear more first-hand info.

Wear snake boots or chaps!!!! I was struck on the shin scoping out a place to put my pop up about 6 years ago. Never rattled. I would guess its cold enough now but I would do it if the weather is even slightly warm. I saw several deer a long way away and lots of hog tracks but nothing in bow range.
