OK fellas,

Would like to tap into the vast helpful database here.....

Dropped my boat this afternoon before the rains came.

Ran around the Backyard. Returned home. Lifted the boat out of the water (high enough for motor flush, rinse, etc.). No problems.

After maintenance, went to raise to "bedtime" height above the water, and....hummmm sound from the motor.

Would not raise, or lower. The motor only made a humm noise. Almost like the gears to raise/lower the boat were in need of relief of pressure? Weird.

Anyone have a service provider recommendation?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like something was still on. Good question for my electricians at work who work on motors. Sounds like it's time for a new motor what is the hp on it? How old is it?

I'll have to look up the HP. Not really sure how old it is, as I purchased it second hand from a corpusfishing member that used to live on the Island.

I plan to take the cover off the unit and take a closer look. The rain came down yesterday, putting an end to things.

Chef, no reason to call in the calvary....it's just hung up a little....while it's turned off, just grab the flywheel with your hands and move it back and forth a little, then fire it up and it will work.....it just needs some grease....

I'm assuming you killed the power to it and did not leave it humming overnight? One of my electricians says it could be age and salt air taking a toll on the windings. If you are able to get it moving again and it happens again....time for a new motor, it just happens. It could also be corrosion on the connections.

Never left it humming more than a second or so. I always disconnect the power to it when not in use. My lift builder Blue has told me some horror stories about them being turned on and unattended. Regardless which direction, what goes down, always goes up!! Laughing

Hank has a crew and he charged $75 plus parts last time I used him.
