O.K, Somebody explain this to me like I'm in the 3rd Grade.
The Senate just came to an agreement to up the debt ceiling and re-open the Government, to the tune of a cool trillion (yea, that's with a T).
So it would be like if I had a wallet full of Mastercards, a few Visa cards, a Diners Club, and an American Express, and each and every one of them were MAXED OUT, and I could no longer charge anything. Well, the end of the month rolls around, and I ain't go no cash to pay them. So, my solution to the problem is to apply for a Discover Card and charge all the bills to my new credit card???????? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Not exactly...
The misconception is that it is very important to raise the debt ceiling or else we will default on our debt and the global economy will come crashing down and we become Greece overnight... or something along those lines.
Not so.
If they vote against raising the debt ceiling the only thing that would mean is that we could not incur any new debt. It would NOT mean we would default on our old debt. THAT is just another lie from our beloved president and his brainwashed cronies. If we can't pay our bills than we have to cut costs somewhere... Just like I do when the bills pile up (except I can't write myself an "I owe you").
How?
The money coming in from the taxes we've seen them take from The People since this started exceeds the interest on our national debt! SIMPLE! Keep it shut down until the treasonous political persuasion that shall not be mentioned understand that they can't continue to get away with paying for the present absurd economic policy with a currency called "The Future". But it looks like we are OK with that.
Keeping it shut down would mean that we told our husband/wife "No!" on the new credit card because that would be irresponsible considering the old ones that are maxed out.
The media plays right into this sort of misinformation problem we have here.
The Medicine has become the poison. The whole country may lose because the fundamental reason for starting this fiasco was to try and make America understand how basic the problem is... Simple Math. Oh, but the republicans are just a bunch of "evil white conservatives who hate everyone who is different and don't love their fellow man".
The United States of America will lose on this one if the Republicans cave.
All I'm saying is that there comes a time when people say that enough is enough. Every bad situation we've overcome in the past has come at a cost and this one will too. But if we can just have the balls to stand up to the political persuasion that shall not be mentioned and not allow them to run us into the ground we will get through this.
I say we have enough credit cards! _________________ Fish hard. You never know when you'll make you last trip south. |

What I mean is... It is actually more like paying the minimun on each one and taking the new credit card out and going shopping for more fishing stuff. _________________ Fish hard. You never know when you'll make you last trip south. |

I once heard an explanation that the human mind cannot truly conceptualize the quantity of a trillion. That's 12 zeros right? Our brains want to take smaller groups that we do understand and then multiply them to understand the size, but that doesn't help with a number as big as a trillion. Even Carl Sagan used a lessor number in "billions and billions of stars"
Now, if Congress was to pass a budget, something that hasn't happened in the last six years, we would not find ourselves in a position of crisis management and the economy held hostage through political positioning. |

| If you spent $1 a second, it would take 12 days to spend a million dollars. At that rate, how long before you spent a trillion dollars? 34,000 years. |

"Our", elected representatives, have become a elitist group. They do not represent us, but they do cater to their lobbyist, and those that elect them. It has become a self serving government.
Term limits, no laws passed that they are exempt from, and no lifetime benefits. political persuasion that shall not be mentioned/Republicans, both the same. Be the people you're suppose to serve. |
