|
|
After many months (possibly a couple of years) of wanting a kayak or boat, I used today being my 30th birthday as an excuse to pull the trigger and make a move. I went with a kayak just because I don't have the patience to maintain a boat. I decided I wanted a Hobie and a couple of times trying regular kayaks and having the wind pick up and wear me out trying to paddle back to the truck. There are plenty of accessories I want for it but for now I'm waiting for a less rough day than today to just take it out and have some fun. My first purchase is going to be a milk crate or have plenty of topside storage if I can manage to find one along with a top to secure everything.
If anyone has any tips or wouldn't mind having some company kayak fishing let me know. I usually just make sure I fish with people around but it would be even safer to fish with someone. I have friends that don't fish as much as I do nor do they have kayaks but have the means to rent.

| When I did the demo ride I was amazed at how fast I was going into a 20+ mph wind this morning. |

I would love a hobie for days like today! Congrats on your new ride! _________________

| I'm almost definitely going tomorrow morning. I'm pretty confident the rain is past but the wind might still be rough but now I have the means to get around with no problem. |

Very nice...I just got one at the beginning of the summer from another forum member and I love it. Super stable and being able to fish and peddle is pretty sweet. No complaints yet other than the weight, just gotta hulk up to move it around easier. _________________ Fish On! |

| That's why I went with the Outback. It's approx 75 lbs empty. I was thinking about a pro angler but quickly realized I would need to buy a trailer to go along with that. Maybe I'll upgrade to that and a trailer once I reach retirement age and can't lift the outback onto my SUV anymore. |
