Giving report to oncoming shift at fire station #3 when someone came outside and told us, like many others, I was thinking private aircraft, until we saw the second one hit. RIP 343. True heroes. |

Woke up early that morning. Walked through the living room flipped on tube and saw the first tower smoking half asleep thinking look at these goofy third world countries! Made it halfway to the coffee pot and it clicked. I sat and watched in disbelief. Ill never forget when I did head into work that day I taped one of those 8 x 12 American flags on my antenna on my truck. |

That drawing of a soldier(s) taking a U.S. flag from a firefighter with the quote of we'll take it from here, or something to that effect, always put a lump in my throat. Thanks for what ya'll did. Also that one cell phone pic of that dark headed firefighter climbing the stairs of WTC, what a brave sob. On a lighter note, I was at PA outfitters, last tues. buying bait and a guy with a "combat medic" sticker on his truck was getting bait. He did 3 tours and got hit with an IED, so I bought his bait as well. Hope he had as much luck as me and the Mrs. did. |

I should've researched it before posting, but the firefighter in the pic is Mike Kehoe of Engine 28. He made it out because he evacuated when the order was given. But you can tell by interviews he gives that he probably had (or has) survivor's guilt. Sorry, but I always get kinda melancholy on this day having met (and thrown back a few) with fellow firefighters that made it out of those buildings that day and seeing their pain and guilt. Enjoy retirement "Vodka Mike". Different Mike than one in photo, "Vodka Mike" was supposed to be on duty next to WTC that day, but swapped shifts to play golf tourney. He came in and manned phones at sta. talking to spouses and family members, giving updates for 2 days straight. The guy he swapped with didn't make it, as well as (best I remember) the whole station. |

Watched the first one drop from Brooklyn.........did not wait around for the second. Drove back to Long Island. Hugged my wife and spent the rest of the night watching the fighter jets refuel overhead. To this day, I cannot talk about it with someone without getting somewhat upset. |

The intensity of everyone's responses has been quite humbling. I really have a renewed respect for those who serve our country, those that lost their lives, both enlisted and civilians, and first responders all around.
God bless all of you. This earth is only temporary, but even with that said, you forward the betterment of mankind and we will never forget! _________________

Sitting alone in the data center at Driscoll Children's Hospital wondering why I couldn't get through to Novell support for an hour or two. That NEVER happens. They always pick up the phone. I suppose most of them were huddled around TV's and/or radios watching the events unfold. When I finally did get ahold of them and asked them why it took so long to get through, the guy on the other end of the line said, "you haven't heard what's going on?" I knew right then how bad it really was without knowing a single detail. Of course, I soon learned what happened and had the same mix of emotions all of my fellow Americans had. Shock, disbelief, anger, nausea, confusion, hatred, patriotism, etc...the list goes on and on. I'll never forget this day. God bless all of those who died that day(except the hijackers and their supporters). God bless all of those who have died since protecting us from evil scum in this world. God bless America. Never forget... |

I was 20 yrs old at home in bed when my mom called and said "Turn on the TV we are under attack" I didn't quite understand until I tuned in and saw it for myself. It was chilling to see what was going on, didn't believe anything like that could happen to our country. I pray for all those innocent people that our country lost that day and the others we have lost along the way protecting our county. Thanks to all that have served our country and God Bless You. |

I was heading to work that morning. Didn't have the radio or on. I was working at a Sears Dealer Store in Alice, TX. I was opening up and getting everything turned on. I went to the TV section and Turned on the biggest big screen TV we had. I saw it in 60" High Definition. What a Shock. Smoke and fire coming from the building. People jumping to their deaths. What a horror. All I could do was stare. It took me a few minutes to realize that I had been standing there for almost 15 minutes when I notice everyone standing behind me. Had to be at least 5 people. I quickly turned on the rest of the TVs and got the register going, but I had a very eerie feeling that I should be somewhere else. _________________ Where's the March Hare???.. |

Was home for some reason that morning and heard it on the radio. Younger sister called crying and scared. Had to talk her down. She thought the world was ending. |
