Having a family reunion in rockport the 28th to the 5th of june and we got a beach house on copano bay with a lighted pier. Was just wondering how the fishing should be down there and what artificals to use because im not that great with soft plastics and topwaters. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I have had luck under the lights with gold fleck and/or light colored doa shrimp. Lots of schoolies but keepers every once in a while. Spec rigs are popular as well as cheap and come in a variety of colors. Little red/white curly tail plastics work sometimes...forget the brand name but Tackletown has their own generics. Others swear by live shrimp if you are so inclined. Throw to the outside perimeter of the light ring and let your bait work back into the circle of light. I think the larger predators sometimes sit outside the main light and try to ambush their prey. Some will use Gulp on a jig or under a popping cork. They are neat baits but I just can not seem to even catch a cold with them but I keep trying.
Good luck.

I used to catch some pretty big oversize drum off the Holiday beach pier. At night.

Last year went down and did same as you(We were at Ms Kitty's Getaway). Stayed near the old Red Fish Lodge (?)--un-occupied but their lights were on at the water(really powerful). Saw several power boaters and kayakers pot licking those lights with some impressive results. GL
