Have been talking to some buds who have fished down here LONG time, and the words i here over and over are SUCKS, SLOW, TOUGH.

I was able to scratch a limit of trout with me and my three kids last Saturday, but had to move to to three totally different areas.

July and August i predict will be even worse, but i think the surf and offshore will be better than years past if the weed will stay some what weak.

I have fished at least 3 times a week for the past 3 months.
We have tried the Surf, Fish Pass, Oso Bay NAS, Oso Bay by TurnAround, Oso Bay at Wooldridge, The Spill Way, Canals, Packery Jetties, Packery Bridge, Boat Hole and yes it is TOUGH.
We are on a mission to Think Outside tbe Box and Explore new areas we never fished before.

Yet I still enjoy just getting out there and enjoying life Wink

Keep on looking guys, the fish are around. I went out for 2-1/2hrs this morning and CPR'ed a limit of reds on a few drifts. Use the low tides to your advanatge. If theres no bait in your spot, dont waste your time. Fish gotta eat too! I witnessed this morning slot reds running along side of schools of pony mullet trying to be incognito. Those mullet arent supposed to be red! lol

Tough going around here no matter who you talk to or what they say. Even some guides are drawing blanks with the funky winds and low tides. Fish that were out and about in some areas a week or more ago are not there. Some may be catching but the average Joe is experiencing pretty much what the poster(s) mentioned and that includes areas of Aransas, St. Charles, Copano, SanAntonio and Carlos. The kayakers are finding reds in Redfish Bay but they are going skinny and working hard.

You mean like this?

Find the bait...find the fish....Yall are working too hard during the day my friends..the night is your friend....fish it like the surf...15-20 minutes..if nada then move

Dont get me wrong the daytime bite is also good just not as good....

If your in a boat calm down get to a spot you like and slow cruise..look for em...i sightcasted in baffin with its dirty water so dont pull the "brown tide wont let me see em" excuse...

adaptation is the key to survival...so adapt dammit!

Fished Sat. Not normally a weekend fisherman. But got Sat. off at the last min. Well I remembered all to well on why I hate fishing on weekends. The people that work the National Sea Shore gate need to do a better job of not letting anyone in to Bird Island with a boat if there is no parking. It worked out for me this time because someone came in early do to issues. But the crowds on weekdays are the best.I love shift work for that reason. You weekend warriors can have it.lol...
