I am wanting to take my 8 yr old son and 6 yr old daughter with me next week fishing down pins. Was reading a few reports of black tips and lots of stingrays in the wade guts. Is this really normal? I remember as a kid swimming in those guts and playing with my cousins having a good ol time. So now I guess it would not be safe for them to play in the water at all? Should I stay close to the pavement so that way the kiddos can have a lil play time fun in the water?

That depends on the day. I've seen trash can sized stingrays in the wade gut in huge numbers just at the end of the pavement. You can always get out and take a look.

I have also noticed a few jellyfish lately. You might take some meat tenderizer as well.

Don't let the reports keep you from hitting the beach. Yes, there are stingrays and sharks in the water. They want nothing to do with you! I fished PINS for the last 2 days on the south end and saw plenty of both and had the rays swim past me in groups of 20 and BT sharks come within feet of me only to bolt when they saw me. On the north end, the rays and sharks tend to stay out a little further due to the depth of the guts and all the people activity. Go and enjoy it. The beach and the water are awesome right now. Summer is in full effect. Jeff Wolda

Thanks for the info. Will scope out the wade gut and find a shallow wade gut for the kids and fish the first gut for myself. Will post a report when we get back. Good or bad.
