I've read the CT online for years. I've enjoyed being able to keep up with a city and place I used to call home, and still miss greatly. Guess that'll come to a screechin' halt in the morning.
Yeah...I'll miss Sikes. |

I had to sign up for it today but since I am a subscriber I get it free. We get Wed - Sunday for the store ads on Wed and Sunday paper and Sikes' article. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

The fee won't last long. Their advertisers are not going to like the mass exidous from their average web site. _________________

I am far from the brightest build in the marquee.... But I don't subscribe and access via the web address or the ap and everything is free. And it is past 5 AM Tuesday.
Shorty - thanks for the link. |

Actually, more and more news sources are starting to charge for their online content, or charging for viewing more than a few articles a week/month.
Lets face it, newspapers have to make money in order to pay their costs and their employees and writers. I suspect David Sikes gets a paycheck from the Caller-Times. Without paid subscribers, newspapers would go out of business. Why should some people be allowed to have for free what others pay for? |

only issue i've had and gotten a message for was if i wanted to view or comment in the comments section (which i loved to poke with the fire stick from time to time)...everything else is there... _________________ Trophy whitetail and exotic hunts on some of the finest ranches Texas has to offer, www.mcoutfitterstexas.com

I do not have problem at all with them charging and staying afloat or maybe even make a little $$$$. I just don't see how they are going to make any $$$$ given I can get the exact same info and often the same article through about 10 free news aggregation services.
And they missed something because it is still free........ |

There will still be free content; public safety news, national and world news and content readily available elsewhere. _________________ certified whiting slayer |

| How do I say this tactfully. Aw heck. There are multiple reasons I cancelled my subscription to the Caller a long time ago. I subscribed to Wed-Sun several years ago. They started increasing the number of copies without increasing the cost. I got tired of throwing it away because I had already seen most of the info on the web. I also got tired of the atrocious English and incorrect headlines. I remember when it was the Caller and the Times. Yep 2 different editions every day. Then they were bought by a big corporation and it has been down hill ever since. recently it has been to the point all I ever look at online is the obits. |

For me, Sikes is the only reason for that bunch to exist. I have not subscribed to the paper for at least 20 years to protect my blood pressure. But I understand that they are in their death throes. I just don't care.
If you are a conservative, and you have low blood pressure, this publication just might fix you up!
Bill
P.S. I like David both personally (barely know him) and professionally, but the C-T was going to drop the outdoor column a few years ago. I guess they finally realized that he is an asset to them and to the community. _________________ Be a sportsman. Practice CPR. Catch, Photo, & Release. |
