| Good day all... I'm looking for some advice for tossing artificals from my yak. I have been working a lot of the passes in the mustang island/ shamrock areas. I have been using spoons and some gulp jerk shads with little to no luck. When I go to Roys or Academy I get a little overwhelmed at all the options. I would really like to find a couple of go to baits and some rigging advice. Thanks in advance!! |

Gulps and spoons are great lures and can be fished a lot of different ways effectively. I would get yourself some topwaters, like super spook jr's or She-dogs for choppier conditions where you want a little more noise. They take a little practice to learn how to walk-the-dog, but once you get your first blow up you will be hooked. As for colors on them (or any other lure), ask 2o people and get 20 different answer.
Keep at it and don't get discouraged. its been a grind lately for some of us with plastics. Experiment with different plastics, and before you know it you will only be using 2-3 lures everytime you go out with tons of confidence. Ziacatcher's trusty tequila gold sand eel comes to mind. IMS's bull minnow. Flounderdaddy's wigglytailed watchamacallits... we all have our vices. _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |
