Port Aransas
10 a.m.
A foggy morning has cleared somewhat to reveal a brown and green wade gut with solid green towards the backside of the 1st gut. The water temp has continued to rise all week and I am guessing we will pass the 70 degree mark tomorrow or Tuesday. I saw clear evidence of rip tides every few hundred yards (good to fish these but be careful). There are some tiny tiny man o wars on the beach so I imagine they are in the water. Not a great day to wear shorts while wading!
Air temp: 69
Wind: 10 to 16 dead South
Water temp: 68.9 (C.C. point 68.9 as well)
Waves: 2 to 3 ft with general chop
Water color: Green out from the 1st gut with 6/10 clarity
Weed: Very little
Birds: Quite a bit of action with some pockets of pelicans in the 3rd gut and flocks of small cormorants riding above little schools of mackerel in the 2nd and 3rd guts.
Tide: High at 9:07 a.m. falling all day
Tidal coefficient: 85 falling to 70 |
