So I got a wild hair to attempt to build my first custom rod. I had some hang ups and finally got it together in my spare time.

Special thanks to Gary at Buddahead Custom Rods for giving me some solid tips that he learned in his many years of rod building. I probably would still be working on it if not for him lol. That just goes to show what stand up people they are at Buddahead rods. I mean there was no gain in it for him and he pretty much walked me through the whole process. Thanks again! You da man Gary!
And to my wife for dealing with all my "rod stuff" in the house (lol) and being my camera woman and getting the cool pics.

Here are the pics. Enjoy. Can't wait to build another!!!

8'2" 50-80# class. xxheavy Fiberglass blank.

I am hoping they are as excited about it as me and bite the hook so they can get a closer look lol. Why the sad face?

That's a nice rod with very interesting guides near the tip. Is it intended to be a surf rod? What blank did you use?

Intended to match the reel I won at sharkathon. going to be strictly for shark off the high rack on PINS. It was the value blanks from mudhole. Heavy fiberglass. the guides are boat rod guides because I wouldn't be casting it, although I did cast it out for drum the other night and it worked though obviously not designed for that. Thanks for the comments!
