Hey texican, Unibroue is a helluva brewery. They make a 17th anniversary dark ale that you will like if you like Terrible. I brought a 750ml of it that I am waiting to break open and share for a special occasion, maybe one of IMS fish fries if he ever has one on a date I can attend. Its my hands down favorite, but if I'm having a few on a hot day, its hard to beat a cold, balanced IPA. I'll have to try to the 90 min, haven't done that one yet.

I haven't tried that one! I'll have to keep any eye out for it.

Are you familiar with Ranger Creek Brewstillery out of San Antonio?
They make a very good Belgian Style Dark Strong Ale called La Bestia Aimable. They tout it as the beer for wine drinkers.

http://www.drinkrangercreek.com/san-antonio-brewery/la-bestia-aimable-2/

They also make bourbon. Their small caliber series ".36" aged in 5 gallon barrels for 9-10 months has been getting a lot of praise.
Their large barrel batches have been aging for nearly two years and may be ready sometime in 2013.

I've never heard of it. But their description of that ale sounds like my kind of beer . Now I have something to do besides Bass Pro SHop when I'm visiting the lady's family in San Antonio, and all they want to do is shop at La Cantera.

La Cantera........ ouch.

The first saturday of every quarter (Mar, Jun, Sept, Dec) Ranger Creek has an Open House. $8 gets you a pint glass (you can keep the glass) and three full (or almost full) pours of several offerings, or two pours and a bourbon sample. Live music and a food truck or two usually accompany.
The bringing of folding lawn chairs is allowed and advised.

Another option would be to have them drop you off at either The Flying Saucer or Freetail Brewing Company (both are very close, and on the way, to The Shops) and collect you on the way back. Wink

Shallowsport et al: If you haven't done it yet, I recommend picking up Real Ale's Sampler Six Pack.

2- pale ales
2- Brewhouse browns
2- Fullmoon Rye pale ales.

All are VERY good beers and your purchase helps support a local brewer.

GO TEXAN!

My beer world is way too small. Most of the beers, being meentioned, I have never heard of, more less tasted. Going to be fun broadening my horizons.

Favorite Shiner beer: Kosmos, when it's available.
I like all the St. Arnold's, but the Amber is my overall favorite.
Found a Real Ale Limited Edition pilsner named "Hans Pils" the other day at Liquid Town that was awesome. Unfortunately you probably can't find it anymore.
Need to go to that Ranger Creek Brewery!
I did enjoy that Abita Amber, esp when I found it at Liquid Town around the Holidays for $3.99 a six pack!
I like beer. It makes me a jolly good felllow.

The Small Batch Series by Ranger Creek has been recieving a lot of love lately.

http://draftmag.com/beereditor/ranger-creek-small-batch-best-beer-series-around/

#4 is their Mesquite Smoked Porter that has been aged for 10 months in their small bourbon barrels.

I kinda hate to be a shill but Specs should carry a few of their beers for those curious enough to seek them out.

BARE KNUCKLE, is a dark beer, that I found while in Indiana. Have not found it anywhere else. It is excellent.
Prefer my beer; 1. On tap. 2. Bottle. 3 Can, and always cold.

Anyone had a michelada with a good Mexican beer, I like mine
Glass of ice
Small pour of bloody Mary mix
Heavy on tobasco
One fresh squeezed lime
Caguama beer or Dos Equis

Grew up on red draws in Wichita Falls but now I'm true Hispanic I mean south Texan.

I prefer darks but like most anything from Sam Adams. I'm not big on the "made in America" stuff, I go for quality and value for the $. Still, besides the great taste of just about all their varieties, Sam Adams is American made, and the icing on the cake for me is that my hard earned dollars aren't going to union support: Sam Adams is a non union shop delivered by non union trucks!!!!
Cool Cool Cool

I don't drink much or that often but when I do I prefer a nice Guinness, shot or two of Jack (with or without Apple Pucker mixed in), and when I'm out and they don't have Guinness, I will grab a Shiner. I also drink free beer, lol.

I found a six pack of Shiner beer in the hill country that had 6 different flavors of their's. Of course the bock and blonde were there, but there was also, black and a few others I dont remember the name of but I was very impressed with all of them. I wish I could remember the name but the one I liked best had green writing in the label.

I have found the same variety pack at local HEB on occaision, pretty good stuff.
