Have there been smacks or kings around? Mangroves or sheepies in the rocks? I've been out of the game for about 3 weeks now and wondering whats doing. I try to do more reporting than probing for reports on this site, but any updates here would be much appreciated. _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |

I know sharks and reds have been caught of packery jetties, a smack here and there but haven't heard about any big numbers. Seen a few reports of smacks being caught in surf, seems like sharks are poppin' right now but just your normal reports of bull reds and standard trout off piers/jetties. Guy caught a monster Mangrove of Packery Jetties not too long ago, forgot his name on here, was 3 inches shy of state record. Not too much chatter about sheepies and kings. You makin a run soon? |

Thinking about this afternoon or tomorrow morning, work permitting. Debating on whether to kayak the laguna or fish the jetty. Thanks for the synopsis Cifbb1845. _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |

| Ya, that's a toss up my man. I'd probably hit up the jetties. Maybe try the sheltered side of Packery too (bridge side), always have done well in there, stay out of wind too, if there is any. Good luck bro, post some pics if you have any luck. |

Hiya!,
Last week, I hooked several SMacks, but didnt land any. Kept losing them or being bitten off. Walley got one about 20". Fishing was slow. A lot of trash fish killing the live mullet.
With last couple of fronts, I am betting the kings and SMacks have moved off. _________________ FISH ON!!,

| We went to packery this afternoon. Fished about a hundred yards in from the jetties. Used perch and cut bait & caught mainly hardheads. I hadn't ever been there so we stopped at Stripes to get a parking permit. The kid at Stripes said no one on the island had any permits & he thought since everyone was out they weren't enforcing it? |

Can't one park in the big parking lot on the mustang side without a permit? All the way up the new construction/shelters?

| We went back to packery today. Stopped at 2 Stripes and they both said their corporate offices had picked up all their permits, We went to the park office by BHP and bought a permit for next year that also works now. Fished the south jetty and didn't catch much, but a guy close to us caught a bull red that must have been at least 36". |

Kings may have moved off, might be one or two late ones hanging around though. Spanish can be caught every month of the year however, given proper conditions. Get out and post a report!
