Back at it again today.

Unfortunately, today just wasn't yesterday. Surf clarity better than the last two days, clear water to the beach, but 3-5 ft seas, and rougher than the last two days. Additionally, today was the transition day to 4 tides per day, and the water stayed high all morning instead of dropping out, and then began rising, which was peculiar, the likely culprit being the 4 tides per day event combined with the gusty S winds. Beach deserted yet again, and the fishing justified the absence of fishermen.

From 5am till 330, whiting, hardheads, and skipjack only. Couldn't beg, borrow, or steal a red today, unlike yesterday. The current is ripping to the north as it has all week, but there are still mullet to be had the length of the beach.

I was so disgusted I took a nap after grilling some burgers.

Was almost stranded till the next decent low water at the 34 today, if you venture south for the weekend, the tides will likely remain high, but the beach itself is soft, VERY SOFT above the high water mark. High banks very soft as well and bumpy. After daylight the tide will only be on the rise.

I'll be watching DVR of Sons of Anarchy all day tomorrow, ya'll can have ole' Isla Blanca!

By the way, 100 year Anniversary of the Nicaragua was last week, LONG LIVE THE NIC!! Cool

Awsome pics of the Nic man!
One of these days I'll make it down there far enough to try and find it. Smile
Thanks for posting.

Well some day are fishing days and others are catching days. But, It's great to be on the sand and have peace and isolation from the cares of the world and just enjoy being there.
Thanks for your reports and photo's your reports are always awesome.

How was the drive? I am heading down that way next Thursday Nov 1st. with a group of friends for a couple of nights.

Did you stop along the way to fish or pick up some bait?

Heading for the Nic. Looking forward to it.

Glad ya'll enjoyed the quick snippet of conditions, etc.

The tide has not been dropping out low (holding true to the forecasted tides for this week) and thus the driving has been soft and slow past the 6, with the high banks utterly destroyed, as per usual for fall. Nov. 1st is a little far out to say exactly how the driving will be. If you have a decent low water, you won't be anywhere near the soft stuff.

On daytrips, I will never set up in one area, unless it's nearing late afternoon. I run and gun my way south road hunting, with an emphasis on the high banks this time of year from daylight onwards. I pick up my bait before dawn, typically around 530am, at the blacktop. Throw in the blind right now for mullet, they are there.

Love your posts a great pics--couple of questions from a newbi
could you clarify a bit on the bait catching-what or where is the blacktop?? (for bait catching)
Where do the high banks kinda start--is that a favorite place for you in the fall??
Hope this is not to personal, thanks Rocky

For fall fishing, with the availability of live mullet, you can catch all the bait you want using a castnet from the beach. The "blacktop" refers to the 0 mile marker on PINS. The high banks (what's left of them) starts around the 18ish, to the 29ish. On a daytrip, it's a fun area, because the guts are deep there, and you never know what may show up.
