With the cold front coming through and the wind picking up Sunday - why is fishing out?
Just curious on if this is a boating issue or a fishing in general issue or ??? |

When the wind gets in the 20-25MPH range, it can be miserable, frustrating, and at times dangerous depending on where you are and what kind of boat you are running. |

It's a boating issue and a being spoiled issued. I can pick my own days to go out on the bay. I like 5-12 mph but will fish in 16 mph winds. Once it starts white capping I rather be at the house. Folks coming from faraway lands such as Austin have to deal with the elements when they arrive. It's hard for tourist to pick and choose their days. Now in my younger days, you could easily catch me out drummy fishing in 25 mph blue norther, them days no longer exist. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

LIKE THE SAYING GOES, THE WIND IS YOUR FRIEND [ WITHIN REASON ] THE WIFE AND I AND ON OF MY SONS ON LEAVE FROM COAST GUARD WERE CAUGHT IN BAFFIN A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, WHEN A SOLID NORTHER HIT EARLIER THAN EXPECTED. IT WAS A LIGHT SWITCH TURNED ON. IMNEDIATELY THE BITE EXPOLDED, WE WERE ON THE HOLY SHORLINE NEAR LOS CORALES, JUMPED OVER TO EAST KLEBERG PT. BOOM REDS WENT BALISTIC, TROUT FRENZY, INCREDABLE. WORKED OR WAY DOWN TO TIDE GUAGE, WHEN I NOTICED WE HAD NOT SEEN ANOTHER BOAT FOR HOURS, CAME AROUND POINT OF ROCKS AND WE WERE HIT IN THE FACE WITH 30-45 GUSTS. STOPPED COUNTED FISH TO MAKE SURE WE WERE LEGAL, TIED EVERYTHING DOWN, GOT A SANDWICH, AND PUSHED DOWN THE KING RANCH SHORELINE TILL WE WERE ABLE TO HIT PITA A RUN FOR THE ISLAND! POINT IS IT WAS A TRIP TO REMEMBER, STILL TALKED ABOUT TODAY. DONT BE AFRAID, JUST BE PREPARED FOR CHANGING WEATHER CONDITIONS KNOW YOUR LIMITATIONS,,SERVICE YOUR RIG, AND HANG ON !! _________________ Been fishing Baffin/Land Cut since 1968 |
