I took my wife to the beach this morning...just to get out and away from the chaos we've had recently. I left the fishing poles at home, but man was the water clear and full of mullet. We went down 8-9 miles, saw one nice group of birds (near the 4WD sign) working with moderate fish jumping/splashing the second and third guts, the surf was 1' or less, and everywhere we went there were small to moderate schools of baitfish.

I was seriously twitching...never again do I leave the poles as home!

Sounds an awful lot like what I saw at both North Fish Pass and North Packery this afternoon. Clear water, low surf, tide out, good driving, and some fresh sargassum rolled in with the tide last night. Not much, but enough to put a patch of off-colored water in the first gut (which is why I got called out in the first place).

Saw huge RAFTS of birds lounging around the 3rd and 4th bars north of Packery, and what looked like either spanish mackerel or bluefish just boiling the surf past the 2nd gut. Not much being caught on either jetties, but tons of bait in the water and many, many birds (terns) working the shallows with the boils. Would have been the place to throw just about anything. Cool

Don't like her? What's wrong with her? She's beautiful, she's rich, she's got huge... tracts of land.

I did a drive by on the seawall around 1:00. Water was awesome and there was a nice baitball getting blown up very close to shore.

Working in PA today and watched the water boil on the south end of town. Third gut was alive for over an hour. Wish I was there with kayak and rod.
