Hit the sand South of Bob Hall. Driving was good, water is clean, tide was up. Caught a nice 43" Jack Crevelle and some Blues. Was good to see Pappy out there with Freak and Shrimp. Zia and Dreamcatcher showed up later as did DTM and Hill with their families. Rabbit came by for a short visit and Firewalker was driving up as I was leaving. Was good to be on the sand again with some Great friends.

I kept it for a friend, but he is only fishing the Redfish div. You are welcome to it if you want it. I have put it in the freezer.

Good time regardless of conditions.

Waves were high, current strong and tide coming up real high as we were leaving at 3PM.

Thanks for the report. I wanted to make it out there today for the bash but spent the day getting my son a car.

Tinsley's Fishing Texas says about bluefish:

"Their flesh is edible but not highly desirable."

Years back, I went on a night charter to catch blues out of Atlantic City, because they are exciting to catch. Well, I was the only rookie on the charter to get a blue. Other veteran blue fishermen got skunked. Chalk it off to beginner's luck.

When I returned, I wanted to know how to prepare it for cooking. Up and
down the Boardwalk, none of the restaurants had blues on the menu. Some looked at me like I was nuts for wanting to eat blues.

I gave the fish away without tasting it.

Once in San Diego, I went on a party boat and loaded up on mackerel. All of the other guys on the boat threw theirs back. But they were such a pretty fish, I cleaned 'em and packed them for my flight back home on the next day. In the baggage check area at the airport, we waited and waited for the styrofoam cooler to come out. Then . . . a wet conveyor belt . . . then some ice . . . then some passengers griping about their luggage being wet and smelly of fish. We backed away from them. Just before they all left, the cracked, leaking cooler emerged on the belt. We backed away farther, seemingly uninterested. When all had left, we retrieved our cooler.

However, we should have left the fish in the Pacific. We cooked them; they were nasty . . . really nasty.

The Jack in this pic is available to the first one to reply to this post. I know the Shark a Thon is right around the corner. I will not be fishing it this year.

Have eaten blues in Florida when I lived there. Fry the heck out of it and its not bad. Really ugly looking grey meat though. Not a fish i keep anymore.

Nice Report Manny! Blues are great smoked. Just bleed them and smoke them like pomps. Just avoid the dark red meat.
