Got some MRE cases (3 1/2), I might be willing to part with for trade or sale if y'all are interested. Outside color indicator is still good and I've eaten two a month ago, still good. Let me know if ya got some fishing gear to part with (rod and reels) or just need some hunting food/2012 prep.

Don't throw them away, even if they're expired I'll take them. My kids *LOVE* opening MRE's, that was their favorite part of the trips when we have them. Confused They just like seeing what kind of random accessories come with the main course. Laughing

Sorry iPhone shorted out an had to get a new one. Ok, got 2 Case A 1-12, insp/test date 12/05 on one and 06/09 on the other. Got one case B 13-24 insp/test 12/05 and the 1/2 case is a case A 1-12, insp 06/09. Looking for 20$ for the 05 case and $30 for the 09. Half a case I will sell at whatever good offer I receive. Will post pics of the fresh seal when I reload the app on my phone.

As far as I can remeber they dont really have an experation date per say, just a red bullseye on the box, if the outside color matches the inside then it's bad. Or if you open one and can't stomach the smell, then you know it's bad. Lol

When I was in the Army in the late 60s, we had c-rations, & I remember eating Ham & Eggs, water added, packed at Blue Star Foods Council Bluffs, Iowa 1942. Don't recall anyone getting sick on them, in fact, they were one of my favorites ! Pretty good with a little hot sauce on them. LRRP rations, about same as MRE, were just coming out before I left Viet Nam in April 1970.

A and B are the menus, there are 12 meals per case. So case A menu, meals 1-12, etc. You can find the menu items online. The inspection/test date is the date you're supposed to check them to see if they're still good. If memory serves that date is set out something like 8 years after manufacture but I could be wrong. It doesn't mean they're "expired" but they need to be checked at that point. Depending on how they're stored the lifespan can vary wildly, they last a long time at 50-60 degrees for example but 80 degrees not as long as you'd expect. This is all based on memory when I looked into them years ago, so FWIW and best to google it if you really want all the details.
