After 2 trips down this year and getting skunked both times I decided to start checking the internet for some reports. A quick Google search brought me here a couple weeks ago, so I read all the reports I could find and headed back down to try my luck with last weekend. I had seen reports of trout being good in the surf around BHP, so I grabbed some croaker and got there around 6:30 Sat. Landed a 19" on my second cast., then another 18" five minutes later. Weed was a pain, and the surf was pretty rough so we called it a day with four in the box. Tried some other spots early Sunday but no luck, and ended up next to BHP again by 7:30. Was slow going, and the weed was a lot worse, as were the waves. Ended up with a couple more before calling it quits and heading back home. I want to thank everyone on here that provides reports, because it helped me get a few in the box, and the family enjoyed some fresh trout for dinner for the first time in a long time. I'll try to get back down in a couple weeks again, maybe the water will be a little better.

There are a few good places to access the bay for trout as well. I have very little surf fishing experience also but I have much better results in bay. Just a thought but not sure if it's a family outing to enjoy beach or you just want to try and catch fish or both?

Your right, reading this is a great source of info.
