|

Disclaimer: The following is entirely conjecture on my part, having arrived at without the benefit of a water sample of said "brown water".
Drove the causeway and areas around the causeway, looking for signs of dis-colored water. Admittedly, with R.Arnold's report from the weekend, it's a little like chasing a cloud, but I still wanted to get a first-hand look.
Did not see any signs of off-colored water, or any congregations of birds that looked to be out of the ordinary. For me, the chances of a slug of brown-tide making its way all the way across the bay intact is pretty low, even with light winds (but stranger things have happened). I did notice the dredge work taking place out in front of the American Bank Center, and perhaps the plume of off-colored water was the result of that. It is much closer to the Portland Causeway area and Nueces Bay Again, just conjecture on my part, but it makes far more sense.
Will keep me eyes and ears open for any sighting of off-colored water, so if you happen to find some, let me know and we can get a water sample of it to see exactly what is making up this plume.

| If I see it again do you want me to dip a sample out of it? I could have easily as it went through us. |

Sure. It will save me from having to chase it down.
The volume of a typical water bottle is more than sufficient. Wrap it in a towel or just keep it dark, and let me know.
Thanks. |

We worked in Nueces today, and didn't see anything alarming, or discolored enough to take a sample. We were on the north side where the first set of power lines intersect the land and drove west to whites point, then south to where to river dumps in, then ran the shore line back to the ramp. Granted the water was a little churned up, but we didn't see any streaking or notice any aerosols.

| Hey guys, up again this afternoon. I did see the streaks again. Between the 2 power lines from the center of the bay to the north shoreline. Also NE past the restoration work up close to the shoreline. It looked thinner so maybe it more noticeable from the air and not so much from the water now. D. |

Thanks Uncle D.
Did my conjecture of the dredge-work outside of Nueces Bay make sense to you (from an aerial perspective)? As far as the streaking, how extensive would you say it was? |

| Guess it wasn't too bad but that depends on perspective. Won't be back up till Fri. or Sat. We will have high winds the next few days. Wonder if it will be dispersed. |
