LONG LONG time reader, first post. Always enjoy your posts and have learned a TON here, so I was overdue to share.

Been hitting a spot somewhere between Baffin and Matagorda Bay that I'm not allowed to talk about. (OK, I'll drop a hint: it rhymes with Mate's Soul ... or is it Steadman's Pole ? ... I always get them mixed up). Twice over the past 2 weekends our combined catch (wife likes to fish too) was a good mix - red, trout, flounder, drum (not all keeper size though so I don't know if it really qualifies as a Texas slam).

Tuesday night, we ended up with a mix of drum, trout, and reds. Only the drum were keeper size, but we're strictly catch & release anyway. Wife got the drum, red, and trout on dead shrimp. I got the trout and red on topwater. Nothing spectacular but a fun evening nonetheless.

Thanks for the report Tommy, I'm here at work and wishing I was getting my line wet. Last time I went fishing I was using dead shrimp and caught a whole bunch of Hardheads, glad too see you guys didn't catch any. I won't be hitting salt water till September. Thanks for sharing.

Nice report. Where you out there this past Saturday? There was a couple of red yaks out there. I was in an orange Hobie and paddled way off into the distance (about 4 miles) only to get hammered by a storm. I took refuge on a little island by the intercoastal for about an hour. That's one of my regular yak spots.

Is that the bean and cheese soft plastic? Whats your opinion on it? Action, castability, etc.

Yes that was us Saturday and Sunday. Funny, wife kept nagging me about the weather when we were out there Saturday. Just when I was about to tell her to knock it off about the weather I turned around to look and yeah it was nasty! So we left ... and she was nice enough to not say "I told you so".

That is the bean n cheese, just picked them up last week. Bigger than I expected, casts further than I expected. Definitely weedless as advertised. Slow sinking, even drifting in the kayak and trolling with it, it stays near the surface from what I can tell. Maybe better in the winter? I'm terrible when it comes to plastics and presentation so I'm not the guy to ask. Gotten a couple of bumps but that's it. I'd like to hear what some of the more skilled guys have to say about it.
