And 2.99 in Los Fresnos. Why is it still 3.35 here? _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

| If people would rally together and only buy the cheapest gas in town, the others would have to match it. Then you could just keep going lower and lower. It's our fault for not getting together and getting the prices set. Those folks that have the money that pay the high prices and don't think twice are why its so expensive. It's 3.49 here in San Marcos. |

Price dropped 30 cents in the last 3 weeks. I'm not complaining. We got it better than most of the country. Average price for regular is over 3.50 today. |

Going to be unpopular for this but oh well:
People complain about paying for gas when right now the average fuel station is making about a 5.3% markup. HEB probably averages a 25-35% markup
Many people will pay .75 cents for a 20oz bottle of water which would be $4.80 a gallon. Now please think about the cost of getting that water in a bottle vs the gas?
Go visit a independent gas station owner- how many hours a day do they work? If they were getting so rich I doubt they would routinely work 14-16 hour days. I know one lady who said she has not had a day off in 3 years
Next factor in if someone get 20 gallons in gas the owner is running a gross of 3.4 now back off the potential credit card charges, employee cost, compliance fees etc... Not a lot left. Oh and right now is a ideal situation for the fuel station, most of the time they are making about 10-12 cents a gallon not the 17-22 cents they are now..
If we could group up and drive every price gouger down to a 5% mark up it would be a very interesting business market _________________ Take a kid fishing, best investment for them and our future of fishing. |

I saw a local gas station that had regular gas for 3.37, and the Plus also for 3.37. Didn't make sense to me. _________________ JJ |

Low gas prices means the economy is getting worse. Hopefully it will end Obama. _________________ -STAY THIRSTY MY FRIENDS!- |

That may be true but the people that put his A$$$ in there the first time won't see it that way. I told my wife about 3 months ago when prices where going up that you watch 5-6 months before the election gas price r going to drop big time. and guess what !!!!! Because most people see this as a good thing and it had to be Obama to get the prices down. so they will then vote for him again. you tell me in years before where prices for fuel dropped in the most busy time of the year summer time. |

While all of that is true, those same forces are at work at stations that charge $2.99 (Los Fresnos according to Tyler) vs. the local price gougers who charge $3.49 for the same thing! That's a pretty substantial difference.
So I will ask again, "Could someone please explain to me, like I'm in the 3rd Grade, why gas is more costly the closer you get to the refinery" |
