Went out yesterday for some BTB with Luke and John. We were trying to find the Jacks and Bonito just to have a little fun and get some stock of shark bait for the summer. Starting in Port Aransas and heading south we were having a hard time finding anything and when we did the bonito had lockjaw. Nothing we threw at them would get them to even look at a lure. After a couple of hours wasted chasing bonito we ended up at fish pass where a school of Jacks were milling about. John was the first to do battle, in which he was a little underpowered. Luke was second I was third. By that time our time was spent.

A pic with John with the two landed Jacks

After John and Luke had to leave. ( I had a few more hours of fishing hall pass left.) I decided to hop over the island to the Shamrock area behind the ..... ahem. No secrets given. Ended up with two drum and a limit of reds.

Thanks again Will. John and I had a blast. Poor John watched 15 dollars of powerpro vanish off his reel in 20 seconds.
John starts screamin "Luke! Luke" zzzzzzzzz-pop! "Sonovab---!"

I am always looking for new adventures. Now I can cross "jack on a topater from a kayak" off the list. Next on the list "cobia from a rig in a kayak".

That report got me pumped. Great job.

Already working on your "bucket list", Luke!

One thing that I'm going to try to cross off my list is catching a northern pike, on a fly, from the Rio Grande when I head up to NM.
