Pelican's Landing is okay, nothing fancy and a little high on the price side.
Kody's has a great menu, casual, not expensive.
WildHorse saloon makes pretty darn good burgers, wings, etc.
Shell's is also awesome if you want the pasta route.
Pelican Club is probably the best joint on the island, higher-end but I've eaten there in shorts and flip-flops. Sushi bar is excellent if chef Dave is still doing it but I've not been in there in a while.
As for buying shrimp, go down to the park by the ferry landing (Robert's Point) and look for shrimp boats with a sign or flag flying. I think the Polly Anna (big white catamaran one by the pavillion) went out today so they should have fresh shrimp.
Alicia Kayla is also a good bet. _________________ I'd rather be fishing |

Port A has the best eateries - just depends on how much $ you want to put down.
Here are some suggestions for fine dining: Behulas (Pelican Club), Inferno (sister restaurat to behulas) Venitian Hot Plate (my favorite), Lisabellas, Phoenix Cafe, Spaghetti Works. Shells is awesome for lunch or dinner. Kody's is also very good for lunch/dinner. I think FINS is mediocre and way over-priced, more of a tourist trap as is trout st. - agree with the other poster as its good for drinks and a view but if that's what your looking for go to Virginia's.
Stone Crab is in season - eat'em up. Have fun. _________________ CONSERVATION IS KEY |
Does anyone have input on Pelicans Landing, I always pass it and the parking lot is full!
My family has stopped @ Pelican's each trip to Port A and we have always enjoyed our meals. Virginia's also has very good food, IMO. Next trip, we are going to try the Venetian Hotplate for some Italian, just to mix things up a bit. |

Havn't seen this one mentioned so I thought I'd throw it out there.
Beach and Station Street Grill - It is directly across the street from Venetian Hot Plate. Kinda small place but you can't miss it. It is right on the corner and the entire building is painted "burn-your-retinas" yellow.
I always end up there for lunch and enjoy their fried fish or shrimp poboys. I am a poboy fan so I can't say that I have tried anything else. BEWARE...we went there once for dinner and found out that they do not have poboys on the dinner menu.
A little pricey but not too bad like nearly everything in Port A. Around $10 for a poboy and fries. They have a good variety as well. Burgers, salads, broiled and baked seafood dishes, king crab, etc. The menu will surprise you for a little hole in the wall type restaurant. |

ditto on Kingkilla's post. Surprisingly sophisticated specials there. A bit cheaper than Pelican's Landing and way much better food. Stuffed shrimp, stuffed flounder are good as well. _________________ Cudakilla.com

I steer clear of Port A Brewing after having an awful "stopher" (burger) the one time I ate there. The avocado was so hard I could barely cut it with my fork. Their "craftbrew" was not any better. Great imported beer list but way overpriced ($10 bottle for Stella Artois). _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

| Only went to Port A Brewing Co. once. It wasn't horrible, but I will not give repeat business to any establishment that charges 10 bucks for a burger but openly refuses to serve one that is "rarer" than medium well. That's a travesty. Plus, while I only tried two of their brews, both were hopped to heavily, and, as best as I can tell, too early. (coming from a guy that loves IPA!) |

I tried them all and they tasted very similar. And I agree with the $10 well done burger. Back on topic, all the others mentioned in this thread are good choices. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

Can't believe nobody's mentioned San Juan Taquria!! Good prices and great for breakfast, too. Port A Pizzaria is good, and delivers. Pollyanna is the boat to buy shrimp from, by the pavillion. _________________ dunedawg |

Did not know we ever got off topic.
Nothing wrong with a little constructive criticism for our local restaurants. Hopefully they pay attention. If not, well... |
