Figuring the red tide was making the surf unfishable I went out in my boat around Pita today. Figured on a 10AM bite because of the full moon. Went out around 9 and nothing for the 1st hour. About 10 the fish either turned on or I finally found them. Either way I caught at least 20 trout, however there wasn't a keeper among them.

Came back in, had lunch and decided to see for myself what teh surf looked like. When I got SBH the water past the 2nd bar had a maroon color. Cleaner closer to shore with tons of finger mullet. What was strange was that this time of year mullet are usually heading south and all of these were north bound.

When I was driving down the beach I noticed most dead fish were close to the dunes and not many on the shoreline. I got out and walked around and aerosol effects weren't too bad. Then I started seeing bunches of fish floating in and they were all skippies. Did not fish, just observing. Might have to try it Friday after the front. 58 degrees for a low Fri. morning.
