Hit Bob Hall Saturday in search of Kings on slide lines, but things don't allways work out the way you hope.
I was fishing on the South East side of the pier, around 4 o'clock or so my Penn 6/0 starts screeming at the top of her lungs.(by the way, ther's one hooked up already) I think the fish is running straight out, but when I finally get clear of all the other lines I see she's heading straight out at 50 MPH. I see my 420 yards of 100# braid leaving my reel and there it goes,my oh sh*t knot and now here goes my 30# mono.I put a bit more drag on and start to gain some line back and she starts coming back to the right. At this point we're about 40 min. into the fight. When she turned around the right corner of the tee she's still out around 300 yards, at this point I back off the drag and head down the pier towards the beach. When I finally reach the sand I'm looking at mono on my reel again. Now it's tug a war for another 30 min. or so. Finally I can see my catch (6 footer close guesstimate),I go to grab the fish by the bottom lip and see the hooks in the top lip and think better of it. Grabbing the leader to pull the fish to beach for a measurement and quick release, but she had different plans. With a hard shake of the head and an about face she released herself.I watched her swim off healthy but tired like me.
One tough fish, and thanks to all the people that helped out and to the kind lady who gave me that much needed bottle of water. A fight I'll never forget!!

We got most of it on video, but ran out of disk about 20 min. before the end of the fight.

I was going to mention your fish, but did not want to deny you of telling your own.
