Left Austin at around 12 on Thursday headed for paradice. Made the usual stop at Buc-ee's in Luling and then it was the last stretch untill water. We got to our "home" camp spot at fish pass to find pretty conditions. Pretty water, fishable wind and waves and not too much grass. That night was more of an unpack night but we did get to throw a mullet on the long rod and tops for specks. Neither got hit although we did have some blowups wayy behind the lure. Thinking skippies! Next morning, we wake up after about 3 hrs of sleep for that night. Ran to port a to get some bait. 5 dozen croaker and 1 pint of live shrimp. We fished on and around the jetties with a little more than nothing to show. Few dink trout and some skippies. We pack up the rods and head for the port a harbor as we always catch some type of fish there weather that may be reds, black drum, sheepies, specks or flounder. We get there to specks busting bait by the boat slips so live shrimp with a
popping cork was the ticket. No keepers, just all dinks. Then I hook into the biggest ladyfish I've ever seen. We make a quick stop at wilsons cut to fish the drop offs for flounder and came out empty handed. Just once again, dinks! The next day was a little tougher to fish the surf
because winds and weed were bad. We go to the back side of mustang for reds and nothing. Saw a few but with the winds at 30+ it was almost impossible to cast at them. We go to the packery channel and load up on finger mullet. 3 keeper flounder for that day. Last, we fish the other side of the channel to find 2 undersized flatties and 1 "Louisiana keeper" redfish. All in all, a great trip with very cool new people that I got to meet and I can't be thankful enough! Here are some pics!

Can anyone ID this fish? Got it in the net at the packery channel. It had a nasty set of teeth and was about 8in long. I thought cobia at first but then said no due to teeth.

It was nice meeting you this weekend. You guys had some tough conditions for fishing. Let us know next time you head South. And tell Capt. CS to get you a filet knife. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

Agreed.
Only time I have ever caught them was around the Packery rocks. Caught three in a row in the winter trying to drag up some flounder. I got tired of unhooking those ugly bastages and moved on. _________________

| Inshore lizard fish (there is actually another species found elsewhere, thus the name "inshore"). |
