Back in the 80's when I did far more wade fishing than I do these days, I built a device that really helped when wading. I got a fairly large inner tube and mounted a treated piece of plywood cut round to fit over the middle hole. I tied it to the tube with nylon rope. I mounted a couple rod holders and there were cutouts in the plywood for a small styrofoam cooler and a small tackle box. There was also a holder for a landing net and tie-offs for flow troll style bait bucket and stringer.

This worked pretty well, but it was somewhat bulky. It was very stable and would not tip over, and I don't recall it being hard to tow around tied to my belt. I was worried that if it sprung a leak though, I was in for it.

I want to again build something like this, but without using an inner tube. Does anybody have anything like this to use while wade fishing that they have custom built themselves, and if so, would you please share your expertise?

Thanks.

Expanding foam inside the inner tube? Don't know how much weight that would add.

Thanks, Bigrock. Yes, I have heard of this, but never seen one in a finished state. I would sure like to see one already built, or seeing plans would be cool.

Now thats a thought, Skillzzz9. In fact, I have a place right around the corner from where I live that does that.

Still, I am intrigued about the noodle thing, but I am having a hard time seeing a design in my head using them.

Do what my grandaddy did in the 60's. Put a washtub inside an inner tube.

Thanks, landshark. I also found another after doing some serious searching on the internet. I should be able to come up with something workable now. Thanks all who contributed. I will try to post a photo of what I am sure will be a marvel of engineering when finished. Rolling Eyes Laughing

You can check this out. I'm thinking about building a version of this out of PVC, and maybe adding wheels.
