It will on low tide, but be advised that I've been forced to retreat to the dunes on many occasions, and a 2wd won't cut it there most of the time.
Ask the rangers if you're not sure about the tide forecast or driving conditions before you venture too far past big shell.

I have had my F150 as far as mansfield channel, but the tide was way out and it was just like driving on a freeway without the traffic I have also made the mistake of stopping on shell and not on solid sand, thats when male pride kicks in and I try to get myself unstuck and turn down a couple of offers for help. By the time the third offer came I was more than ready to accept it.
Take a good shovel and some boards and a spare tire and a good tow rope. And only travel during low tide. Like hooker said a 2wd cant make it on the highroad.
If you are not familiar with driving on the beach, I would recommend not going very far past the 4wd sign until you become more familiar with beach driving or unless you have somebody with you who has a 4wd to teach you the do's and dont's of beach driving and parking. _________________ Fishing and Kayaking its a rough life but somebody has to do it. |

right now around the 17 mm you will need 4x4 no matter how low the tide is or you will go no further. Very soft from water's edge to dunes. Also the normal soft sand in big shell. _________________ Mastergunner, supporter of hardheads for state fish of Texas |

I have a supercrew 4x4 Lariat and I usually only use 2WD. However I have learned that driving on PINS can be very unpredictable!!!!!! I would not go far at all past the 4 wheel drive sign unless I have a buddy with me that has 4X4. You don't want to spend your time getting a truck unstuck. _________________ Fish till I die |

Yeah, brother I will remember that the next time you tell me to carry the buckets of water and start shoveling to get us out. _________________ Become a part of the food chain, wade fish.
