Yesterday I ran my first 1/2 Marathon (Surf and Turf in Corpus Christi), and had not planned on fishing on Sunday; actually did not plan on walking on Sunday, but woke up feeling pretty good. Made a pot of coffee, and read the paper. Noticed the wind was pretty light, and forecast to stay the same, so I thought a late start would be better then no start. Loaded the yak, stopped at Stripes for the obligatory Chorizzo & Egg, w/ bean and bacon taco (AKA heart stopper), and was on my way. Decided that an easy launch, with a heading into the reasonable SE breeze would be the ticket; so launched at the NASCC marina (actually one of the drivable jetties south of the marina). Paddled out to the SE, and found some decent looking water on the drop-off west of the spoil islands and adjacent grass line. After a grim 2010, and an equally slow start to 2011, I finally got on some trout, though the mix was almost 5 to 1, with dinks ranging from 13" to "too close to call", and the keepers being 16-18". Best fishing was when I decided to get out and wade, though wish I had my boga, as I lost 4 or 5 attempting to "get a grip". All in all, for an unplanned, and late start day, it was good!

GOV SPEED...looks like materials are there to replace the boat storage building that blew away; though nothing has started on the ramp, or marina project.
