My across the canal neighbor called me today to ask where to find some fish because he had a couple friends from Bandera with him. Told him where I've been finding them and welcomed them to drift where I was because I was just out playing anyway. I pick up 3 trout and a flounder and they get 2 trout in their boat and then decide to head farther south for more action. At this time I go home to continue my next "honey-do" woodworking project.

I was just beginning to stain the wood I cut and sanded when I get another call from my neighbor. I just knew he had gotten into the fish while I was home.

Well, as it turns out, one of his fishing buds gets his hook stuck on the boat key during his cast and there goes the key into the laguna. The key became separated from the float and they are stranded and the call was begging me to go into his house and get the spare key and take it to them.

No problem. I get the key and take it 2 miles south of Pita. Zia to the rescue.

Now the payoff part. On the way back I see a flock of seagulls sitting on the water and that got my attention. I circled around, shut down and drifted toward them throwing the red shrimptail I had on my pole. A few casts and an 18" trout. A few casts after that I hook, landed and released a 30" drum. And to make things even better, a few casts later I nail another drum, this one goes beyond the end of my 36" ruler.

Needless to say I was really glad to help my neighbor, but really pumped about the 2 drum.

HAHA! no kidding, it actually happened to someone else, that's awesome. Topdog and I saved a guide-buddy who had that exact same thing happen to him a couple years back. That's hilarious! and the funny thing he was just down the shoreline a mile or so, sounds like the same area. maybe there's some kind of KRS/Bermuda-Triangle thing down there that eats keys. Shocked
