Dayum!! - I never realized there were so many ex "Navy Seal-Commando-Snipers" on this board, but you never know. Looks like they all retire to Corpus. Corpus must sure be well protected from terrorists with all those "Navy Seal-Commando-Snipers" sitting around there ready to make "well placed" 1000 yards kill shots (right between the eyes) with the Red Ryder bb guns they all got for Christmas from Santa.

Shucks, my daddy killed a raging bull elephant yesterday at 2000 yards with his 177 pellet rifle. All it took was one pellet and good shot placement - shot it right between the eyes. It just rolled over on its back stone cold dead with all four feet straight up in the air. And to top it all off he only had to pump it 4 times.

I never was even in the military at all and dam sure no sniper but my hats off to the guys that are!!!!!!!!

But if you want to talk about well placed shot at long range 1000yrds are more. I'm a pretty good start. you just happened to pick a subject that i do a lot of. I spend a lot of time and money shooting at long distances.
i have a 2500yrds range at the ranch and shoot around 2000-2500 rounds a year at ranges from 100 out to 2000yrds. I've been in Berger bullets flier with a buck i shot at 450yrds and my daughter is in there flier now and on there web page with a buck she shot at 284yrds with a 308 when she was 9 years old and it dropped with one well placed shot . so here is a couple of well placed shot at 450, 640, and a 1000yrds so you can see what a well place 1000yrd shot really looks like and notice they all dropped with the first shot not three. Its all about shot placement period

I did a couple 300yd shots on does WAAAY back when with my 270. fell straight down
85 mph with a Peterbilt is deadly, done that too.
BUT nothing, without a doubt, nothing drops 'em faster or deader faster than a 416,000lb locomotive at 60mph. Wink

Lord I love nilgai... They pull people even crazier then me outta the woodwork Laughing Laughing

Any .30 caliber bullet using a well made bullet is money nilgai hunting. Any razor sharp BH thru the lungs is money on a nilgai.

And since I don't know most of y'all personally, you bring anything less than those to my truck you will be laughed at.... Severly. Possibly pee'd on by my tracking dogs for being a idiot at worst Wink Rolling Eyes Laughing

You guys that want to try hunting the blue bulls of south texas with bow or rifle you will need to try la altrevesada ranch. small ranch inside the kenedy ranch. hunts are by the day and the trophy fees are a lot less than anyone elce. whitetail hunts are also far cheaper.
