I found two baby birds and there nest that was blown out of a tree walking to my office this morning. No idea on what they are, but I have the birds and nest in a box in my office and no one on campus seems to want to help. Thanks, SM _________________ That's why they call it fishin' not catchin' |

| We took an injured white wing dove to the UT facility out in Port A. You might try giving them a call.749 6902 |

not to sound rash, but lots of nests are gonna hit the ground in the next couple of days. i know it can be heart wrenching to witness, but it is a natural event that occurs. i can't blame the university for not wanting to use their already stretched resources in order to save two baby birds. again not to sound harsh, but winds blow and baby birds die. it's natural. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

We had a mockingbird nest dump eggs yesterday in the front yard. We put one egg back. The bird nested in the crotch of a limb that really rocks up and down in the wind.
I think this is what they call "Natural Selection". |

Try feeding them, I did that once with a baby pidgeon that fell from a nest. I did not know what it was, i gave it a high protien diet of shrimp and fish, kinda thought it was a gull. Turn out to be a pidgeon. Best bird friend I ever had. Name him julio, would fly down and ride on my shoulder when mowing. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

I call Tony Amos in Port A, no one anwered. I called Petco and will pick up some baby bird formula and bird seed. They have feathers and their eyes are open. Taking them home and putting them in the garage. Hopefully they will make it. They are chirping and moving, just scared and can't fly yet. _________________ That's why they call it fishin' not catchin' |

When we were growing up, there were two Blue Jays the fell out of nests at my friend Rob's house (South Padre Rob). The first one we called "Pete". He left or got eaten by a cat after he grew up and then a year or two later another one fell out of a nest and they raised that one too. I suggested they name him "Repeat" LOL! and they did. |

Awesome! Great story! Pete and "Repete!"
"this is my brother Daryl and my other brother Daryl..."
We didn't know what to feed it so we thought it best go to an expert. |

They are safe for now that the storm has passed. They have eaten a bit and only time will tell. Thanks to Big John and Tyler. Left a message for Pam, hopefully they make through the night. SM _________________ That's why they call it fishin' not catchin' |

Good on new SM, that's really good karma. If they make it great, but if they don't at least you tried. That's great. |

Caller-Times had a nice article this morning about this very same thing. The ARK (Tony Amos) tries to take them in, but like Tony points out, ultimately, these things happen. And his advise was to just put them back in the nest.
Heartwrenching, yes; but like I learned way back when in the Army, "It's Hard, but it's Fair". |

They are letting me open their mouths and I am giving them baby bird formula. If I would have put them back in the tree, they would have died for sure. That was the morning of Hurricane Alex. SM _________________ That's why they call it fishin' not catchin' |
