Joy called Ace, who sounded the call. If you or anyone you know happens to be headed that way tomorrow PM me. It sounds as though he needs a starter for his 88 Suburban with a 350.

Billy knows the beat the starter trick. It happened to me in my suburban and I knew what to do but did not have a hammer with me and my four way got hung up before I could get any speed to it.

As of 7:30P 6/15 Mike McBride is said to be bringing a starter via boat from Port Mansfield. He is supposed to be there around 8:45 or 9p. In the meantime Billy's customers are with him and his clients for tomorrow are upset at driving 400 miles to find him AWOL.

they got the charter deal of a lifetime, if they fished thru the whole thing, not to mention just the experience of it

just got a call from Joy and Billy's still not back yet. She called the hotel that the customers were at but no answer. Shes called the cel phones that Billy gave her and no answer. We need to check with her later to c if he made it back. He told her that it was low tide. Not sure how fast billy would drive but if he's driving at 15mph it'll take almost 4 hrs off the beach. he left a little after 9pm. I'm off to bed but have to get to work at 730 am.

Ace called and got the answering machine, which could mean he didn't make it back( "they'll find our bodies in the spring" as Billy told me one time when we got stuck in the bay during a weekday in the winter when nobody was out on the water Very Happy ) or he did and he is back out again with today's customers. I will let you know when I find out.

Billy's back safe. He got in at 1:45 last night. It was a nightmare trip to start with , as he got stuck up to the axles at the 5MM and couldnt get dug out. Finally he got someone to pul him out and proceeded. The beach is a M_____F_____! according to the Capt. Had good baits out and nuttin but weed. Lost a $900.00 charter this AM. and he's not in a very good mood.....more later.

Thanks so much for everyone's concern. Capt. Mike McBride dropped everything he was doing and drove to a parts store in Raymondville from Pt. Mansfield then back to Port Mansfield then came to the jetties in his boat with the starter when he had a charter to get ready for today. Yeah, tough losing that $900. today but needed to have the truck checked out by a professional and would have been too exhausted to shark fish today. I work for my money and I know my customers work for theirs and I respect that. Fresh grass was coming in bad down near jetties. Driving just absolutely sucks. Period. 3 different people went out of their way to help us yesterday and my customers were real troopers. Gotta' love it.
Rocky was going all the way down there after working all day yesterday and having to work all day today if we couldn't get it fixed and get my customers out. It ain't friends. It's a lot more than that. Most my blood kin are dead and I was never close to many of them. I think somewhere around VietNam I realized that actually we are free to choose our own family instead of being stuck with the one our gene pool gave us. I've lived that concept ever since and I'm awfully lucky and very proud of my family. They are the joy in my life. They make it worthwhile. We caught 6 pomps yesterday. Go figure. Stan is right. Being a fishing guide is far from what folks think it is. Very few guides make much money and no one ever has on PINS. Too much overhead, maintenance and breakdowns. Not to mention red tide and such. It's about being where the Creator intended you to be and sharing it with others and having a part in making them realize how very precious PINS is and how important it is to take care of it. Humbly Yours, Dad
