Trying to figure on when tides are for the Boathole particularly. Is there a way to figure this based on the Port Aransas tides? I wont say it is a "stupid question." That is the primary area I fish anymore based on economics, gas and distance from home. 10 minutes and I am launching my boat.

Because the Boat Hole tides will lag behind what is happening at the Port A Jetties, wouldn't you add?

Comparing riverat's chart, it looks like a 4 hour lag.

Good Question FJ.

If typically the winds are coming from the south and shift south east more often this time of year at the BH does it make sense to monitor the tides at BHP simply because its closer to the BH?.
Just a thought.
We usually monitor the tides at BHP and wait 2 hours before heading out.

Any Thoughts?

Barring frontal activity, on a day to day basis the seabreeze does the opposite: It goes right as the land heats up and the day progresses.

I don't check tides either really.. I just look a few hours before I head out so I know what to expect. What area's to fish, and what bait to present.. like i said before.. look at the weather stations and the graph just mouse over them on the main map and see exactly whats happening and when its going to change.. unless there is a major wind change the trend will stay the same minus 30 minutes..

A wise Capt. here once told me not to really rely on the tide charts solely, because they are more wind driven...at least in the LM.

That darn sure makes sense on a large expanse of shallow water with normally moderate to strong winds and a tidal change of less than two feet................................. and that's on a spring tide!!!!!!!!!!!! Wink
