Hows it going folks. New Resident moving to Corpus. Looking forward to tight lines. I mainly fished around Galveston every once in awhile. Never been offshore fishing though, might do that sometime in the future i hope. Anyways Im going to live up the road from Bob Hall Pier, Hoping to meet up with some folks that can give me some advice and tricks, on surf fishing and other great spots.
Hope to hear from you guys

Welcome aboard, You just moved to a fishing wonderland on the island.
Yes bob hall pier well be a good place and the packery jetties is always a second bet. Get a kayak and you can fish on the windiest days on the east side of the inner coastal for greener water and calmer bays.
Good luck, Just keep talking to locals and see what style of fishing there doing for each different type of fish.and before you know it youll have
fresh fish for dinner. _________________ ''ONE LAST CAST''

some of the ways to fish down here require different rods, reels & tackle.
surf fishing is one way, pier or jetty fishing is another and boat fishing is another. the tackle differs from broomsticks to lite rods & reels and the terminal tackle can be hook with small lead weight to 3-4 oz lead off a 3 way or spreader. try to determine what you want to do, what you can do with what you brought with you, and give it a try. i have learned more from going, asking & watching the locals.
good luck & have some fun. |

i was at the BHP 2 weeks ago, guess it was a wednesday, i pull around a red wagon, some folks may have seen me thats on this board, didnt catch anything, but saw few folks pull in some good size sharks. Guy next to me had, something big but broke off before we could see it. I know one thing, my gear wont last out there, gotta get some bigger poles that hold more line lol. And the guys on the T aint playing around, they are serious, with them offshore reels. I used cut bait and shrimp but no luck. I will be moving the rest of my stuff down there this weekend and the following weekend it is on!!
Tight lines and huge smacks!!

Fasttalker, thats a great question, somebody else may have a better answer for you. Im just moving into the house this weekend, and we don't have a light either, but I don't have the "bobbers" to fish under my neighbors light, don't think he'd like that too much. Looking into getting my own very shortly though. _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |

For me, one of the best things about living on the island was the ability to get in all sorts of quick little fishing trips. When I lived off of Whitecap, I would just drive down to the little turnaround thing, park the truck on the pavement in the morning before work, walk down to the beach, and throw lures in the wade gut for about half a mile one direction or the other. After 30 or 45 minutes, grab a coffee at the Stripes, head back to the house for a shower, put any fish on ice or in the fridge for dinner, and off to work. Same deal in the evening after work, but a little more beach traffic, which usually meant driving down the beach a bit.
And don't forget a little stealthy late night green light pirating.
On that note, Tyler, you should add the pirate emoticon. Arr! |

LOL frayed, they had no idea who they were letting sign that lease Rawlbay, I agree with what you said about the convenience. I think they coolest part is going to be dropping my yak into the canal (which is one of the closest ones to the laguna) and being in hot fishing territory in a matter of minutes. I can't wait to explore all the areas around the spoil islands. And ditto on the pirate emoticon! _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |

| I wasn't all that crazy about the Corpus area my first few years here while still in college. Moved to the island about 6 years ago and I don't think you will be able to pry me off of it. Enjoy! |
