EPIC FAIL!
Got out there at 5am and the water sure looked fishy. 535am, phone rings. Had to go out to work. Got done a 8am and headed back out ot the pier.
Talk to a guy who was getting there as I was leaving for work. I asked if he got anything. He said he got 5 reds one after the other as soon as I left. Dammit!
Well, decided to move out towards the end as the clarity look better there. Got a slide line out and started throwing manolures. Hit after hit. A bunch of undersize Spanish and huge ladyfish. There were a few tiny bluefish mixed in. I did manage two 14" Spanish. I released them because didnt want to risk the shrinkage factor. I boxed a 14.5" and 15" Spanish.
About the time the larger macks showed up, I hooked a large ladyfish. Good fight until it jumped out of the water and shot the lure right back at me. Needless to say two of the three hooks sunk all the way into my calf.
Go figure it was a LADYFISH that stuck it to me. I spent the next 30 minutes trying to fish the hooks out. If it was just one, I would have done it, but having two in there showed me I could do it. So, off to the minor emergency care center and after a few shots, good yank by the doc, and $125.00 later, I was on my way home to get cleaned up and hit the rack. _________________ FISH ON!!,

| I had the same thing happen to me except i wasnt fighting a fish. There was a lure sticking out of my tackle box and when i lifted it up it bit me in the leg. Got some pliers out of the garage and was going to have my friend yank that puppy out. Just as my friend was going in for the kill my parents turn into the drive way and see my buddy with pliers in 1 hand and me with a lure hanging from my leg. My mom nearly fainted and said heck no i wasnt yanking it. We ended up going to texas med clinic....the dr tried cutting the hooks with wire cutters but couldnt. He ended up sticking a bigger needle along the barb and pulled both out at the same time. I wish i would have got some pics. Looked pretty narly walking into the med clinic with a big lure hanging from my leg. Bill after a couple of hours was like $200. I was pretty mad for having that money go down the drain and swear if that ever happens again its getting yanked as long as its not on my face or neck, any wear else on my body im doing it for free! |

Dude, that's why you never take tetracycline or similar drugs when you're the outdoor type.................................................... Unless that means you're into coon huntin' or frog giggin'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry you got nailed. I know that my time is past due: I'm 55 and have been fishing since I was 5 and knock on wood............................ I have yet to be stuck by any hook past the barb! _________________ Dave

epic is right dude! dang! thanks for the report. those ladyfish are dangerous, I have had to do some evasive maneuvers in the past to avoid a projectile super spook. Ive been lucky so far, kind of feel like dodging bullets like that scene from the matrix
PS. get some sun, those are some pasty legs boy! _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |
