I'm selling my 6wt Temple Fork fly rod. Here's some details...
9ft, 4pc, Lefty Kreh TiCr series, 6wt. Comes with a Temple Fork Outfitters MKII reel filled with 20lb dacron backing and Scientific Anglers weight forward, floating fly line.
Here's the links to the rod and reel...
http://www.templeforkflyrods.com/products/rods/ticr.html
http://www.templeforkflyrods.com/products/reels.html
The retail price of the rod is $200. The retail price of the reel is $210. Couple that with the backing and flyline and it would be worth a little over $450.
I am asking $250 for the whole set up. That's almost half off of retail. I'll also entertain trade offers. ESPECIALLY if someone has a Penn 706 spinfisher they're willing to throw in the mix... |

| I think with the recent weather they may not be thinking of fly fishing and the weight is another. |

I would be interested if the weight was a 8 or 9.
The right person will come along.

| thanks for the input guys. an 8wt is surely going to be more popular, but i think a 6wt is fun for trout and reds. the only reason i'm selling this is to fund the 10wt i'm building for tarpon/kingfish this summer. |

6wt I hear are becoming popular for redfish in skinny water... If I had the money I'd be all over it. _________________ What's good for me ain't necessarily good for the weak minded.... |

Would this be a good rig to learn on? I have never fly-fished but have wanted to learn. To be honest I have not done any research yet into what I should be looking for. |

Wouldnt be a bad rig to learn with, however if I was only going to have one rod for down here I would start off with a 8wt or a 9wt just because it will habdle everything from schoolie trout in the bay to small to med Jacks in the surf. But a 6wt is not a bad rod to have and TFO makes some decent rods. _________________ V/R,

I'll be honest... It is a decent rod to learn on, but probably not the best. I got this rod/reel as my first fly fishing set up and enjoyed it. I was able to learn all the basics and feel comfortable when I put something bigger in my hands, but to be completely honest, an 8wt is probably a better "all around" size to start with around here. A 6wt is fine for bay/inshore fishing, but won't do you much good from jetties or larger fish (jackfish, kings, tarpon, etc), but an 8wt gives you a chance, while you can still use it in the skinny water. I'm getting rid of this one because I'm stepping up to a 10wt because all I care to target is larger "jetty" species. Namely tarpon.
So, all of that being said, 8wt is the more common "first" or "only" fly rod for these parts, but I don't think you'd be penalizing yourself if you started with a 6. I did and I'm pleased. |
